Why should I have a photography holiday to Nepal?

It’s a common misconception that Nepal is a travel destination for fit young trekkers. This could not be further from the truth. In fact Nepal has much to offer without any trekking at all.

Full of history, traditional life, ancient architecture and deep spirituality Nepal is a wonderful mix of colourful places and villages set under the backdrop of the highest peaks on earth. In the Kathmandu Valley there are many UNESCO World Heritage Sites of cultural and historical significance. These places are a delight for photographers. There is so much to photograph, architectural scenes, street scenes, the many festivals and local markets and so on.

Wildlife safari in Chitwan is a fun experience for photographers. The most popular being the village tour where photographers can wander through local villages photographing portraits, scenes and getting to experience traditional life. Also a fun activity is going on wildlife safari by jeep, elephant back and also by canoe along the river.

The beautiful lakeside town of Pokhara is a picturesque delight of photography in Nepal. With gorgeous scenes of colourful boats on the lake and snow capped peaks beyond. This is also a lovely laid back town to just explore and soak up the gorgeous scenes here. Similar is the hillside town of Bandipur with traditional life and a wonderful panorama of snow capped peaks.

One of the delights of photography in Nepal is a mountain flight to Jomsom and a visit to the traditional Mustangi village of Kagbeni. Located in the rain shadow with a distinctly Tibetan culture and stark arid landscape. This region is a favourite on our photography tour itineraries.

So if you want to see one of the most epic photography locations on earth and are unable to do any trekking then our tours are perfect for you. Our tours are also suited to older travellers that are not photographers but prefer a more relaxed itinerary.
